Story of Freelancer Ankan Banerjee

Ankan Banerjee began his freelancing career with just $5 in earnings per month, using a laptop bought with 50,000 BDT after breaking his mother’s 8-year-old savings deposit (DPS). Three years later, he now earns $1,500 (approximately 150,000 BDT) per month. He dreams of establishing the country’s top IT firm through his work and creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth while developing skilled manpower.Ankan, a history student at Bhola Government College, has achieved significant success in freelancing despite coming from a humanities background. He works entirely online from home, taking projects from foreign clients and delivering them, earning thousands of dollars monthly.To hear more about this inspiring journey, we visited Ankan in Golakpur, a remote village in Tazumuddin Upazila, Bhola District. He is the only son of Manohar Banerjee and Purnima Banerjee. Ankan shared that he became curious about online earning after completing his SSC exams in 2020. He enrolled in training at the Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon Free Computer Training Center, established by the local Member of Parliament, where he began learning digital marketing.Initially, Ankan started working from a mobile phone but faced numerous challenges. Later, he used 50,000 BDT from his mother’s DPS to buy a laptop and began freelancing seriously. His first project earned him $5, and later he got a $52 project, which increased his interest further. His major breakthrough came when he received a $1,430 project from an American company called “USA Clyde.” He completed the work in just seven days and earned 140,000 BDT. Since then, there has been no looking back.Now, Ankan earns between 100,000 and 150,000 BDT per month as a successful freelancer. His journey has inspired many in his area to take up freelancing, and some are already earning through various platforms.Ankan has since established his own IT company, Success Tech Academy and Agency, which supports entrepreneurs in boosting their sales and develops skilled manpower for online platforms. His firm offers 10–15 IT services, including website development, digital marketing, data entry, and graphic design.In addition, Ankan now serves as a trainer at the Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon Free Computer Training Center, teaching courses on digital marketing to newcomers. He also provides hands-on training to many individuals. Through his organization, young men and women are now pursuing freelancing careers, which not only creates employment but also contributes to the country’s economic growth.Ankan’s father, Manohar Banerjee, shared that they were initially skeptical about Ankan’s activities. However, when he brought home 150,000 BDT from his earnings, their confidence in him grew.
